Election Information

Dear Goldcrest Homeowner,

It is time for our annual Goldcrest Homeowners Association Board of Directors election. This year’s process looks a little different due to new Washington state legislation (Senate Bill 5129) that became effective on January 1, 2026.

To comply with this new law, all HOA elections must now be conducted via paper secret ballot. This ensures greater privacy and transparency for every member of our community.

Review Election Rules & Information

We previously updated our community website with all the relevant election rules and candidate information. Please review these details before casting your vote: https://www.goldcrestolympia.org/election/board-election-rules

All candidate bios will be on the website, please visit https://www.goldcrestolympia.org/election/election-information

How to Cast Your Ballot

Because we are using a secret ballot system, please follow the instructions in the Election carefully to ensure your vote is valid. You have two ways to submit your ballot:

By Mail: Mail your completed ballot to Goldcrest HOA, 1450 Sunnyvale Court NW, Olympia, WA 98502. Please ensure you mail it early enough for the ballot to arrive by April 2, 2026.
At the Meeting: You may bring your ballot in person and turn it in at the Annual Member's Meeting.

Submission Deadline: All ballots must be received no later than April 2, 2026, at 7:00 PM.

Floor Nominations & Write-In Candidates

Our community values open participation. During the Member's Meeting, a homeowner may ask to be a candidate. If a homeowner decides to run at that time, they will be treated as a write-in candidate.

If you have not yet turned in your ballot, you may choose to write that candidate's name on the designated "Write-In" line.
Please note: Once a ballot has been submitted (either by mail or at the meeting), it is considered final and cannot be retrieved or edited.

Thank you for your active participation in keeping Goldcrest a wonderful place to live. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Sincerely,
The Goldcrest HOA Board of Directors

Candidate Statements

Bob Jones Candidate Statement:

To members of Goldcrest Homeowners Association (GHA):

I am Bob Jones of 1716 Easthill Place, NW, Olympia, WA 98502, Lot #166 in Goldcrest and I am seeking re-election, as I am just finishing my latest tenure on the Goldcrest Board. My service to GHA goes back many years and many Board positions, most notably City Liaison and President of the Board. My most successful projects include lobbying the City of Olympia to get 35 MPH on Cooper Point Road by Goldcrest, down from 45 MPH and the north-bound left turn lane into Goldcrest from Cooper Point Road. During my service to GHA as President, I co-founded the Coalition of Neighborhood Associations in Olympia and served as the Chair for several years. Goldcrest became a Recognized Neighborhood Association during that time. We were and still are a model Homeowners Association in Olympia. Also, we preserved our 40 acre greenbelt when some of our members encroached on it. My vision for GHA has been and remains for us to be the premier development in Olympia. To realize that vision, I believe we must always consider the entire Association and how we all benefit from the collective efforts of our members. GHA is a thriving, safe, valuable asset for our community. Our homes are all more valuable today than when we bought them years ago. Our 50 year old community looks like a winning combination and it is.

I plan to help with this effort and I ask for your vote again. Thank you.
Bob

Mason Hawk Candidate Statement:

Hello,

My name is Mason Hawk, my address is 1734 Medallion Loop NW Olympia WA, my lot number is 107.

I would love to run for the board, I think I would be a good candidate for the treasurer position within the board. I also see myself as an inclusive voter for the community on the board.

Explanation / Statement:

My wife and I have just celebrated our one year anniversary of being members of the Goldcrest community and love the wonderful community and common spaces within this neighborhood. I have a background in the banking industry and work in the operations department of a locally headquartered bank. My wife just got me a mug that says "I'm secretly making a spreadsheet for this" if that is any indication... I have been working for a few months now as a leader within the covenants committee listening to the voices of the community. This community is vibrant and beautiful thanks to many of the covenants and bylaws. I look forward to continuing the spirit that has given this community such a wonderful reputation within the city of Olympia. Don't wing it - Vote HAWK

Thank you,

Mason Hawk
